Sweet Lemon
Also known as Sweet Lemon, Lemonade Tree or Ujukitsu Lemon
It is a hybrid lemon variety originally from Japan
Developed by Dr Tanaka in the 1950s
It is a hybrid of two or more citrus types
The fruit has very low acidity
Its taste resembles lemonade
The tree is small and compact
It can be grown in pots with good drainage
Avoid overwatering during irrigation
Needs full sunlight for healthy growth
Can grow on well-lit balconies
The tree grows moderately
Branches are long and slightly curved
Fruits form at the branch tips
Initially green and turn yellow when ripe
Peel is thick and hard to remove
The pulp is moderately juicy and sweet
Growth rate is slower than other lemon varieties
But it bears fruit earlier than other varieties
Flowers bloom in spring
Flowers are fragrant and beautiful
Fruits develop and ripen from autumn to winter
