Native to: Madagascar
Flowers: Large red with a touch of yellow, resembling flames
Height: Up to 15 meters
Branches: Non-spiny
Wild types found in southern and western regions called Poinciana elata
Care Requirements
Tolerates hot and dry climates
Remove dead parts twice a year
Loosen soil and apply fertilizer twice annually
Water once daily, heavy in summer, reduce to half in winter
Propagation Methods
Propagated by seeds in March and April
Seedlings reach about 15 cm after one month
Seed coat must be thinned carefully to allow water to reach the embryo without harming it (e.g., use nail scissors to carefully nick the coat)
Flowers bloom at the beginning of summer
